Family Portraits in Wichita :: The Hilles ::

Even though I’d never met the Hille family before, I felt like we were old friends. I was supposed to have photographed them once before when they brought home their adopted son from Ethiopia. It was all planned out for me to photograph their adoption homecoming at the airport. After flight delays, cancellations, and rescheduling, the Hilles ended up having to drive from Houston to Wichita and didn’t have the arrival they planned on. It was unfortunate for me, because I was looking forward to it as a photographer–but also unfortunate for Sarah, because she is a photographer herself! (Check out her work, Free Range Photography) She wanted those pictures more than I–as a photographer AND a mom, but alas, what can you do when flight scheduling is not in your hands?!

The Hilles have been home from Ethiopia for several weeks now, and a family photo session with the new addition was in order! I loved spending time with this family, talking a little bit of photography shop with Sarah, and watching the two littles’ shenanigans as brother and sister. Thanks for having me do pictures, Hille fam!
